How I do it – It’s simple. I put you first.

I always work from a position of humility. It is not my job to judge anyone’s language use. But it is my job to make sure your reputation is protected and your message is clear and powerful.

I love language and I love what I do. This translates into superb quality work for you.

My experience

I am accredited for editing by the Professional Editors’ Guild of South Africa (PEG-SA) and for translation between English and Afrikaans by the South African Translators’ Institute (SATI). I am also a certified Pro on ProZ.com’s network of professional translators.

Qualified

I hold not one but two qualifications from the North-West University in language practice (both cum laude):

  • a bachelor’s degree in language practice and communication
  • an honours degree in language practice

Experience

I’m not a new kid on the block: I have three years’ experience as an editor and translator in a language agency and six years’ experience as a freelance language practitioner.

About Me

Editing

Editing is more than correcting grammar and spelling errors. It is being acutely aware of the context in which someone will use a text and walking that fine line between the voice of the author and the ease of the reader.

Translation

Good translation is a craft, but great translation is an art. Someone who speaks two languages does not a translator make. Translation is a highly specialised skill for which some form of formal training is crucial.

Copywriting

Creating clear, convincing copy is not easy. One key thing to remember is that copywriting and content creation is driven by a very specific need.
